Q. What is your hourly rate? A. Auto Poole’s hourly rate is £45 per hour. Q. How much does a service cost? A. An interim service for a normal sized car is £40 labour plus parts and vans £50 labour plus parts. A full service on any vehicle costs £80 labour plus parts. Q. What work is carried out plus parts on a service? A. Here is a link to Auto Poole’s service check list. Q. How often do I need a service? A. Under normal conditions most manufacturers advise a service every 10,000 miles or 12 months. Some engines require oil changes more often, for example some Vauxhall engines with timing chains need clean oil to prolong their life, approximately every 5000 miles. Q. Does your work come with a warranty? A. All of Auto Poole’s labour and new parts are warrantied. Q. Do I provide mobile services? A. Yes, please go to the services page for more information. Q. What should my tyre pressures be? A. In most vehicles the manufacturers place a label somewhere on the vehicle with their recommendations, usually in the front door shuts or behind the fuel cap. Typical values are 28-36 psi, please refer to your vehicle handbook for the correct pressures for your vehicle. Commonly used grades are 10w40, 5w30, 5w40. Please ensure you put the right oil in your engine by finding the information in your vehicle handbook or give Auto Poole a call, we can help you get the right information. Each manufacturer has different guidelines for the replacement of timing belts, for example some Renaults have a 75,000 mile or 5 year interval on their timing belts, whilst Ford recommend for their Zetec engines 100,000 miles or 10 years, which is one of the longest maintenance intervals around. If you don’t heed these intervals you can be in for a very large bill, as the consequences of a timing belt failure can be catastrophic, with the cylinder head having to be removed to replace bent valves..
